Doncaster Stage Productions is proud to have a strong membership. We’re lucky to have both a solid, core membership as well as fluid members, who come back to us time and time again to perform with us for different shows. We’re a tight knit bunch and we think of ourselves as a family, although in some cases, this is actually true.
We’re a multi-disciplined company and our production team always make perfect use of every one of our cast members; our strong choral voices, natural comedians, talented dancers, confident soloists, character actors and everyone else in between.
Three ways to be a member.
Non-acting member.
You can support DSP by becoming a non-acting member. Most non-acting members have an active role within the production of our shows but don’t sing, dance or act on stage. Stage crew, costumes, props, front of house and many other roles are covered under non-acting membership. Non-acting members are able to attend all rehearsals and can work back stage during show week if the role requires.
Non-acting members can be on the Committees and have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
Acting member.
An acting member belongs on the stage! This level of membership covers all singers, dancers and actors who are on stage during the productions.
For further details please see below.

Lifetime member.
Lifetime membership is bestowed upon individuals who have been actively involved with the society for many years. The Executive Committee award lifetime membership as recognition for a lifetime of support.
Lifetime members can be on the Committees and have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting. Our lifetime members also receive two tickets for our current production.
Membership.
Memberships are renewed each year. Usually, an audition fee is taken upon or before auditioning for a show, this also acts as your first payment towards your subs for the year. The remaining balance is payable weekly, or how ever you like to pay, with the final due date of 31st December.
There are no additional charges, all your rehearsal materials are provided by the society and paid for with your membership fee; and, most importantly, all refreshments are covered by your subs. We have an excellent (and endless) supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.
We generally rehearse in three stages. Once the auditions are over and the cast is confirmed, we announce our start date. Usually, we start in September with weekly singing rehearsals. Then, in October, we step up to two rehearsals per week, splitting the focus across vocal rehearsals, running through and setting scenes, and learning and rehearsing dance routines. And finally, in January, we ramp it up to three by adding in a Sunday rehearsal, ready for the run up to show week in March.
